Congregational Meeting

The members of Christ the King Presbyterian Church are called to a Congregational Meeting on Sunday, November 22, 2020 from 7:00 to 8:00 PM, preceded by a prayer meeting that will start at 6:30p. This meeting will be held virtually.

Business to be conducted at the meeting:

  1. Elect a pastoral search committee* for the purpose of recommending a pastoral candidate for Cambridge

  2. Elect church officers – the slate of candidates to be elected will be shared upon approval by the Session

  3. Share information with the church

Instructions for how to participate in the virtual meeting will be forthcoming.

The members of Christ the King Presbyterian Church are called to two upcoming Congregational Meetings.

The first is on Sunday, October 18, 2020 at 7:00 PM and will be held virtually. Business to be conducted at the October meeting:
1. Consider the resignation of Rev. Rick Downs as Pastor of Christ the King Presbyterian Church
2. Approve a process for forming a pastoral search committee*
3. Hear more information and ask questions related to placing an interim pastor in Cambridge and the search for a permanent replacement

The second is on Sunday, November 15, 2020 at 7:00 PM and will be held virtually. Business to be conducted at the November meeting:
1. Elect a pastoral search committee* for the purpose of recommending a pastoral candidate for Cambridge
2. Elect church officers – the slate of candidates to be elected will be shared upon approval by the Session

Little Folks Nursery School

Little Folks Fellowship Nursery School is a Christian preschool where they create a joyful school experience.  They believe in child-centered play and provide opportunities for children to grow physically, emotionally, relationally and spiritually.  They are looking for a part-time EEC teacher. Winter Hill Roommate

Two female professionals seeking one female professional roommate to share a beautiful, sunny, and spacious 4-bedroom and 2-bathroom apartment in Winter Hill, Somerville. The room is available beginning early September. The move–in date is negotiable. Rent is $750/month, month-to-month agreement, and first/last month is due at move-in. Roommate/Apartment Needed

Katie Baldwin attended CTK last summer when she was in Boston for an internship, and is now returning to Boston to work full-time in software engineering. She is looking for a September 1 lease, either to join an existing apartment/roommate group, or find roommates with whom to find a place. She is hoping for female Christian roommates who are interested in prioritizing community and hospitality. She is looking to live in Cambridge, accessible to the Red Line. Timber Framing

This summer, August 12 - 16, Mon-Fri, Sophie Linnell is teaching a one-week Historic Timber Framing class at North Bennet Street School (NBSS) in the North End in Boston. NBSS Enrollment is open for Historic Timber Framing | Summer '24 | The class will construct a timber frame structure using traditional mortise and tenon joints, learning the layout and construction of historic New England timber framed structures, including barns and dwellings. Boston Fellows

The Boston Fellows is recruiting now for the class of 2025 that begins in September (See this page of recent reviews.) It is a program aimed at strengthening each person’s ability to serve God and neighbor in the working world. CTK has many BF alumni, one of many is Rosemary Boyle for those who would like to be personally connected, don’t hesitate to reach out (romaryboyle@gmail.com). For context, Rosemary works in oncology clinical research management at MGH. Although the Boston Fellows program recruits across all industries/trades.

Worcester Sox

Some folks are headed to a Worcester Red Sox (AAA minor league) game on either Saturday Aug 17 or Aug 31 at 4:00, and we want you to come too! Polar Park is brand new and an easy hour’s drive from Cambridge; we can figure out a ride for you if you are car-free. All ages are invited. If you might be interested, contact Lydia Carter and by the end of June we will settle on the best date and price range (way cheaper than Fenway) for those who want to come.

Soccer Nights

Soccer Nights (soccernights.org) is looking for volunteers! Soccer Nights is a free summer evening soccer clinic that seeks to promote athletic skill, leadership development, and citywide unity in neighborhoods throughout Greater Boston. As a collaborative effort organized by multiple churches in Cambridge, this is a great opportunity to love neighbors and to be a blessing to the children in our city.  Last year, they had more than 200 kids, served by 85 volunteers, across 7 churches. The dates for this year are Monday June 24th to Friday June 28th 2024 (5 evenings). Learn more at their website.

Housing Request

Looking for Subletter: Innocent Mpoki, a PhD student at Boston College and friend of CTKer Joseph Melkonian, is looking for a summer subletter between June and August in Lower Allston. The rent for the room is $902 per month plus utilities. The room is a 4 bedroom shared house. There is an in-unit washer, dryer, and shared kitchen and living room. The roommates are all male, 1 professional, and 2 Ph.D. students. The room will be furnished. The house is close to Whole Foods and Trader Joe's and the 86, 70, 66, and 64 buses. Prattville

Sophie Linnell and Rosemary Boyle warmly invite the congregation to visit the Prattville Gallery (42 Nichols St, Chelsea MA) to contemplate Gordon College's Matthew Doll Night | Desert | Garden. Art Discussion: Saturday 5pm - 6:30pm  on April 27. We welcome artists and arts patrons (and aspiring arts patrons) to join us for a guided small group discussion with the question "What does it mean to stand in front of a painting?"  The honor of your presence is greatly appreciated.

Brookwoods

Camp Brookwoods and Deer Run are looking for any college or young adult aged men and women to work at camp this summer. Their summer program is a 10-week staff commitment from June 9 - August 18, and they are in need of several more mature Christians to help! If you know anyone who would be a good fit for one of the following positions they can apply at this link. Singles Event

The Presbyterian Church of Cape Cod (OPC) is hosting the first NAPARC Singles Retreat in the Boston area. This is the first attempt to promote fellowship among the singles in reformed and presbyterian churches in this region. More information can be found here. Cost is $135 per person.
