10:30AM CHILDREN’S WORSHIP
This summer classes for kids 4 years to Grade 2 are completing a unit on the First Catechism, a question and answer tool for teaching Bible truths in simple, straightforward language. Chidlren will grow in their understanding of God’s great love for and grace toward them through tracing the gospel message throughout the Bible.
Catechism Questions:
Q14: Where do you learn how to love and obey God? In the Bible alone.
Q15: Who wrote the Bible? Chosen men who were inspired by the Holy Spirit.
Bible Story/Passage: Psalm 119:9-16
Teaching points:
The Bible is God’s book. It is the only book that God has written for us.
God speaks to us, His people, through the Bible. When we read the Bible, God is talking to us.
The Bible shows us how to live the way God wants.
At-Home Discussion Starters:
Why did God give us the Bible? (e.g. to know who God is and His character, to be reminded of God’s love for us, to understand our need for God and Jesus as our Savior, to show us how to love God and love others. to help us rely on God for all things like help when we are in troubleor encouragment when we are sad)
Talk about how God’s people struggled to trust and believe in God’s promise (given how long they waited to enter the Promised Land and all the challengest they faced living in the desert).
Help your child name promises God makes to us in the Bible. What sometimes makes it hard for us to trust and believe in God’s promises? What helps remind us and give and us hope that all of God’s promises will come true?
